What should be done about tall evergreens that are infected with orange gelatinous globs?

This is one form of the cedar apple rust fungus. Part of its life it lives on cedar trees, or evergreens, and the other part of it's life infects crabapple, hawthorn, serviceberry and other related trees. The orange globs do not damage cedar trees, though they will return every spring. It is recommended not to plant any of the aforementioned other trees nearby.
