Fungal Growths

Fungal growth near the trunk of a tree may indicate the presence of disease or internal decay. If you see any type of growth on your trees, it is important to contact a Bartlett Certified Arborist to determine the extent of the underlying problem and see if the structural integrity of the tree has been compromised.

Tick Management

Given the likelihood of encountering ticks, it is important to know that controlling tick populations in your landscape is possible. The first step is assessing your landscape for common habitats like wooded areas, leaf litter and ornamental beds. Based on the assessment, treatments can specifically target at-risk areas.

Spring Consultation with Your Bartlett Arborist Representative

When winter comes to an end, your trees and shrubs work hard to establish spring growth. Some may have been damaged as a result of the many snow storms they had to endure. When trees are under stress they become prone to insect and disease infestations. Now is the time to act to maintain the health of your trees. Call us for a free spring consultation with your Bartlett certified arborist.

Vista Pruning

If the trees between your deck or windows are blocking a great view, consider vista pruning. This involves removing live branches that are blocking the view and retaining the rest of the tree for screening.

Spring Tree Planting

If planting trees this spring, be sure the root flare is visible and soil/mulch are not piled against the trunk. If placed against the tree, mulch can keep moisture levels high on the bark and promote fungal pathogens. One of the best mulch materials to use is fresh wood chips which contains bark, leaves, and wood.
