Michael Connor

Michael is an ISA Certified Arborist and Municipal Specialist with a Tree Risk Assessment Qualification. He brings over a decade of diverse experience in urban forestry, tree risk assessment, and vegetation management to his role at Bartlett Tree Experts. Born and raised in Chicago’s Jefferson Park neighborhood, Michael recently returned home after several years managing municipal tree care programs in California. His career has included leadership roles such as Senior Urban Forester for the City of San José, where he oversaw the maintenance of 35,000 trees, managed multi-district budgets, and coordinated large-scale tree preservation and safety initiatives. His experience spans municipal forestry, utility vegetation management, non-profit urban greening, and extensive community engagement.

Michael’s approach as an Arborist Representative is rooted in providing science-based recommendations that promote tree health, safety, and beauty. He values clear communication, thorough follow-through, and ensuring that every project benefits both the trees and the people who enjoy them.

When not caring for clients’ trees, Michael enjoys hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, cycling, attending live music events, and spending time with loved ones.
