Nels Spence

Nels was born and raised in central Minnesota and always had an affinity towards spending time in natural areas and learning about plants. Shortly after high school he moved to Portland, Oregon to pursue a college education in horticulture and fitness technology. He worked for the Adidas - US headquarters and an athletic training facility which specialized in rehabilitation from spinal injuries and performance conditioning. Nels coached several running and cycling teams before moving back to Minnesota.

Nels joined the Minnetonka Bartlett team in 2012 as an Arborist Climber and has held several other roles since then, including: Crew Leader, Safety Coordinator, and Regional Arborist Trainer. He also gives lectures and workshops around the country on ergonomics and improving safety systems in production, arboriculture and similar workplaces. Now he is looking forward to working with clients in the Minneapolis area to holistically take care of their trees and shrubs. Nels is an ISA-certified Arborist, TRAQ, CTSP, and an American Red Cross instructor for first aid, tourniquets, CPR, and AED.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and three sons, as well as mountain biking, fishing, and remodeling his home.
