An accurate accounting

Tree inventories are intended to provide the basic information on the plant population of a property in order to make informed management decisions. Inventories can supply information on plant quantities, location, condition, and size and maintenance requirements. Based on this information, sustainable management plans, and rational budgets can be developed for the property's care.

A Bartlett Inventory Solutions tree inventory can provide vital information for any size property. Information such as species, condition, location, size, tree risk, pests/diseases, and management needs can be determined. To migrate to a proactive management style, you need to fully understand the resource you are managing, and tree inventories provide that information. A BIS tree inventory will provide an estimated asset value for each tree inventoried which can be used to help justify and prepare maintenance budgets.

If you are considering having a tree inventory conducted on your property, one of the most important steps is to determine what information will be collected for each tree or for the site. What information is to be collected and how it is to be presented are what drive the entire inventory process. The BIS team can work with you to determine this information and help guide you through the entire inventory process, from start to finish.

Bartlett Inventory Solutions conducts the information collection using a sub-meter accuracy Global Positioning Satellite Receiver (GPSr) device with an error-in-location potential of not greater than three meters, in conjunction with tools built within the ArborScope™ management programme.

Planting Opportunity Identification

Planting Opportunity Identification

After the removal of street trees or trees in other areas of the landscape, it is recommended that they be replaced with new trees to maintain the overhead canopy and environmental benefits that are being provided.

During the course of an inventory, the BIS team can collect locations of available planting spaces that are in part determined by how close the location is to the surrounding infrastructure. The locations are then categorized by the size of tree that is appropriate for each site. The categories used are trees that will be small (<15'), medium (15-40'), or large (>40') at maturity. Along with selecting the correct mature size of a tree, the species is also just as important. The BIS team can also provide lists of suitable tree species based on hardiness zone and species that are proven to grow well in the region.
