Summer heat and extended dry periods can place added stress on trees and shrubs. Signs of water stress may include early leaf drop, brown leaf edges, and reduced growth. Deep, infrequent watering encourages healthy roots, while checking soil moisture before watering helps prevent overwatering. A layer of organic mulch also helps retain moisture and keep roots cooler during the hottest months of the growing season.

Our team recently had the privilege of volunteering at The Alex Community Health Centre, providing professional tree pruning and maintenance throughout the property. It was a rewarding opportunity to use our arborists' skills to help care for the landscape and support an organization that plays such a vital role in our community. We appreciate The Alex for welcoming us and allowing us to be part of this meaningful project.

Recent wind and rain in Calgary have highlighted the importance of maintaining a strong tree structure before severe weather occurs.

Following the completion of a challenging tree removal, the crew took a moment to recognize the accomplishment. Photos like this offer a glimpse into the teamwork, experience, and attention to detail that go into managing large tree projects.

These photos capture a systemic root flare injection treatment being performed on a mature birch tree. The small injection ports at the base allow the treatment to move through the tree’s vascular system and into the canopy. When applied at the appropriate time, this treatment provides a targeted approach to protecting birch trees from damaging insects while minimizing impact on the surrounding landscape and supporting long-term tree health.

Storm damage can create complex situations that require specialized equipment and experienced crews. After this tree fell onto a client’s home, Arborist Crew Leader John L. and the team completed a crane-assisted removal to safely remove the damaged sections over the house. Careful planning and teamwork helped ensure the property was protected throughout the process. Great work by the crew on a safe and professional tree removal.

In celebration of Alberta Forest Week, Arborist Representative Amy Fehr recently joined a local homeschool group for an engaging outdoor learning experience focused on trees and forest health. Students discovered how trees support wildlife, improve air quality, and contribute to healthier communities while gaining a greater appreciation for the value of urban and natural forests. Their curiosity and participation made for a memorable day in the field.

The Hospital Activity Book for Children is a book to keep children’s minds occupied at a very difficult time. The book distribution base has expanded over the years to include hospitals, medical service units, pediatric centers, victim service units, and many other services – wherever kids are in need of a healthy distraction during a challenging time.
